3 LaCie Firewire drive · You will need to buy and old Firewire drive with both firewire and ethernet as this unit will become your sole 'back up' drive later for your RETRO Mac Mini. The Mac Mini had a very small hard drive (240Gb to 500Gb). The CD or DVD drive on the Mac mini will not install Tiger SERVER, I found. Apple made sure it would not for some reason. So that means you have to have another working Mac to plug the firewire drive into to install the Tiger SERVER. I used Mac Mini Intel to BOOT from the Firewire drive installation ISO image once installed on the Firewire drive). Press T on boot for that mode. Then reformat the Mac mini internal drive. Then boot from the Firewire drive to install (again) Tiger SERVER on this newly formatted drive. This is the only way I could get it installed.
